Members learn how to influence the passage or defeat of critical legislative bills.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Parish Outreach: &lt;/strong&gt;Meet the needs of fellow parishioners during crisis situations. Services include visitation and funeral receptions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Respect Life Committee:&lt;/strong&gt; Dedicated to heightening awareness for the rights of the unborn, disabled, elderly and the environment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Gabriel Project: &lt;/strong&gt;A grass-roots, faith-based non-profit organization which meets the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of women and families facing crisis pregnancies in the spirit of Christian solidarity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Special Projects:&lt;/strong&gt; Coordinates a holiday food basket program and other food and clothing drives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Alternative Christmas:&lt;/strong&gt; Provides an opportunity to buy gifts that will honor the true spirit of Christmas as well as greatly assist those in need by making a donation to a designated charity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Parish Health Ministry: &lt;/strong&gt;Health care professionals from our parish are available the first weekend of each month to screen blood pressure, coordinate semi-annual blood drives and bring awareness of health issues to our parish.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;COMMUNITY SERVICES INCLUDE:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Germantown HELP:&lt;/strong&gt; Volunteers deliver emergency food and provide assistance with prescriptions and diapers to local residents on an as needed basis.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Meals on Wheels:&lt;/strong&gt; Volunteers serve the homebound by bringing them prepared meals Monday through Friday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Lord's Table Soup Kitchen:&lt;/strong&gt; Our volunteers prepare and serve a meal to the needy in our community on the fourth Thursday of each month.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April):&lt;/strong&gt; A nationwide program that offers the opportunity for our parish to come together on the last Saturday of April to rehabilitate the home of low-income,disabled or elderly homeowners.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4536674422147166751-5348444486646176505?l=mspsocialconcerns.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4536674422147166751/posts/default/5348444486646176505'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4536674422147166751/posts/default/5348444486646176505'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mspsocialconcerns.blogspot.com/2007/11/parish-ministries-and-community.html' title='Parish Ministries and Community Services'/><author><name>Spiritual, Educational, Outreach and Advocacy</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/08265971825555150035</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author></entry></feed>
